| California is known for its large coastline, but nestled right along side of this vast coast are the Channel Islands of California. These islands are part of one of the richest marine biospheres of the world. Many unique species of plants and animals are endemic to the Channel Islands. These jewels of the pacific form a national park that consists not only of the islands but the surrounding waters as well. These park waters provide numerous recreational opportunities to include sailing to secluded anchorages, fishing, scuba diving, kayaking and exploring over 175 miles of coastline. The 5 islands that are open to the public year round consist of hiking trails, breathtaking views, and campgrounds. |
